Home Cleaning Tools and Tips

by

Here are some do-it-yourself (DIY) home cleaning tools and tips that we recommend; take advantage of our research and experience with various cleaning products over the years to keep your home clean, at a reasonable cost!

#1 Microfibre Cloths

This is where it usually starts, a good microfibre cloth really can make a difference in your cleaning experience, since it typically has high usage around the home. Get one that is “grippy” (it kind of grabs your skin even when you just hold it with your hands) as it’ll pick up dust and not just push it around. It’s just make it overall easier to dust and clean up around your home.

Where to Buy It…

In our experience, the ones at the dollar store, don’t really cut it and aren’t grippy at all (just like a cotton rag)…The microfibre towels from Amazon has some pretty good reviews though.

#2 White Vinegar

White vinegar and hot water for general cleaning purposes is a a great combination. Vinegar is an excellent cleaner, non-toxic (obviously) and you’ll save money by not buying fancy cleaning products if you clean regularly. BUT, just be aware that for some surfaces like quartz/granite, skip the vinegar and just use hot water and regular dish soap. Vinegar is acidic and sitting on a quartz counter is not good.

Where to Buy It…

Grocery stores, dollar stores will usually have white vinegar.

#3 Glass Cooktop Cleaning Kit

A sponge just won’t cut it for those baked on stains and grease on the cooktop. But the cleaning kit contains a cream that you apply, and with a razor blade to scrape away the dirt, it will help make it look like new once again.

Where to Buy It…

You might be able to get this at a big box hardware store, or from Amazon.
